Bell Atlantic Corp yesterday announced a third-party software developers programme to rally software writers to produce custom Advanced Intelligent Network applications quickly and inexpensively for their telecommunications customers, and also announced an agreement in principle with Novell Inc to enable end users to customise and change existing service features using Novell’s AppWare development tools; the first agreement under the new programme is with Teloquent Communications Corp, telecommunications software company based in Billerica, Massachusetts – Bell Atlantic has promised to promote Teloquent’s Distributed Call Center product; those that sign up get a software development kit with Advanced Intelligent Network documentation and a tool that simulates service creation; lab space at Bell Atlantic facilities in Silver Spring, Maryland to work in an environment that replicates the elements of the network; and Space System software, the heart of service creation with point and click icons, which they can use to develop applications.
