BELL APPEAL REJECTED

The US Supreme Court denied an appeal by the seven regional Bell telephone companies of a ruling rejecting their request to be allowed to provide the centralised signalling part of long-distance telephone calls: the jurists declined to review the decision by a US Court of Appeals that upheld Judge Greene’s order rejecting the request under the terms of the 1982 consent decree that created the regional companies from break-up of AT&T Co.
