Belgian telecommunications minister Elio Di Rupo is floating the idea of a tax on the traffic through all dedicated data lines. The aim would be to raise money to go towards the country’s social security costs, which are rapidly becoming intolerable . The goal, Le Soir said, was to raise $315m a year as the developed world’s work practice moved increasingly towards people working from home via modem and phone line.
