Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications in Peking, and the research and development arm of Northern Telecom Ltd, Bell-Northern Research, have opened their BUPT-BNR research and development centre: the new facility’s mission will be to fill the need for advanced research and development to support China’s huge telecommunications requirements, starting with wireless telecommunications research, software development, and test automation tools; it is expected to employ about 250 researchers at the end of the first five years.
