Cyber security solutions provider Becrypt and computer maker Getac have launched an Android tablet for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and other goverment organisations..
The 7in Getac Z710 tablet is powered by the Android 4.1version and offers enhanced security features, while supporting several customised apps used by the government, military and defence.
The new device weighs 800g with a battery that offers an operational time of over 10 hours. It also uses high sensitivity GPS technology and a 1D/2D barcode reader, which is supposed to capture data three times faster than other devices.
Getac UK president Peter Molyneux said: "Together, our customers in the government, military, defence and public sectors can trust us to deliver the highest levels of security, coupled with reliable, rugged technology, to protect their confidential and sensitive data and drive productivity and performance."
The new tablet complies with the US military standards including MIL-STD-810G and Ingress Protection 65, defensive against shocks, drops, vibration and water/dust ingress.
Other features include device encryption, system hardening, peripheral control and management, which should boost the ability to implement and assess security guidelines while trimming down on support and maintenance overheads.
