New York broker Bear Stearns Cos Inc is planning to build a new voice, video and data communications system for its global trading functions, using networking equipment from SynOptics Communications Inc: the system will provide a single infrastructure for the high-speed transmission of speech, video and data using SynOptics’ LattisCell Asynchronous Transfer Mode switches, LattisSwitch Ethernet switches and EtherCell switching hubs which translate Ethernet frames into Asynchronous Transfer Mode cells.
