The Basque government has deployed BEA’s WebLogic Server 8.1 and Integration 8.1 as the foundation for its new platform. The new infrastructure is designed to create a web portal that will facilitate information sharing between government agencies and provide users with new multi-channel access to public services.
The objective was to create a service-oriented architecture (SOA) that would support one of the main purposes of government organizations – effectively serve all citizens and businesses, said Agustin Elizegi, general director of EJIE, the Basque government’s IT organization.
According to BEA, the Basque government has reported a decrease in overall spending since the deployment of the new architecture.
