Deloitte Consulting is working with BEA software to develop several repeatable solutions built on the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform, including one, for example, to facilitate B2B collaborative commerce. Deloitte Consulting has recently implemented several large BEA-based solutions for major clients, including Longs Drugs, XO Interactive, and DIRECTV.
The alliance with Deloitte Consulting includes an agreement for both companies to engage in joint marketing and sales activities, and for Deloitte Consulting to demonstrate built-on-BEA solutions through its global network of Solution Centers. Deloitte Consulting’s Solution Centers provide an infrastructure for virtual project teams that can span multiple client, solution center, and business partner sites. These teams share development environments via the Internet using Virtual Private Network technology. Virtual teams also collaborate using videoconferencing, e-mail, project portals, and collaboration tools. By using Solution Centers, stakeholders from multiple client sites can be involved in the project from start to finish without leaving their work environments. Under the agreement, Deloitte Consulting plans to train its e-business technical practitioners on the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform for implementation of real-time, portal and enterprise infrastructure solutions. The BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform is a single infrastructure solution with complete application management, portal, integration and Web Services capabilities. At its core is BEA WebLogic Server, named the market leader by every major industry analyst firm tracking application servers.
BEA is the clear market leader in the J2EE application server space, said Michael DeBellis, Deloitte Consulting principal and e-business chief technology officer. We have a track record of successful deployments of solutions that are built and run on the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform across all of our major industries, including telecommunications, government and consumer business. Today’s strategic alliance enables us to build on these successes and to extend into new areas that take advantage of the expanded capabilities of the BEA e-business platform, such as enterprise portals.
The alliance with Deloitte Consulting extends BEA’s commitment to work with the best companies in the world to meet public sector and commercial market needs for powerful, scalable e-business infrastructure solutions, said John Gray, vice president of global alliances at BEA. As a leading provider of professional services, Deloitte Consulting is well-positioned to create repeatable solutions for organizations that want to benefit from a Web-enabled technology infrastructure.
