OLTP software house BEA Systems Inc which recently raised $117m by selling 6.9m shares at $17 a share in a follow-on issue to its $30m April IPO, has a market cap of $1.39bn based upon yesterday’s closing price of $22.06. It says it can’t believe how well things are going at the moment: early access code for the Iceberg integration of the Tuxedo TP software it sells under license from Novell Inc and the ObjectBroker object request broker it acquired from DEC is expected in the fall. Production ships begin next spring. BEA is also integrating Tuxedo events with IBM’s RS/6000 cluster technology, previously known as Phoenix, now part of IBM’s Parallel System Support Programs which provides a single point of access for event information and allows coordination of recovery within and across applications.
