BEA MORE UPBEAT ABOUT PIPELINE

By CBR Staff Writer

BEA Systems Inc says it has seen a significant improvement in its order pipeline and is more confident about the future than it was at the end of the third quarter, when it began giving off warning signs that order backlog was thinner than it has expected. It said it added 330 new WebLogic customers and that its web application server acquisition now accounts for 20% of its revenue compared with an internal forecast of 10%. BEA says new salespeople are expected to bring in $1.1m in orders; those with a year’s experience $1.8m. It expects to see 40% revenue growth in the coming financial year and it expects its first quarter net earnings to be in the region of $0.02 on revenue of $82m.
