BEA looks to carrier market with Incomit buy

Java infrastructure provider BEA Systems Inc has moved to strengthen its position in the telecommunications sector with the acquisition of Incomit AB, a Karlstad, Sweden-based company that supplies infrastructure software to carriers.

By CBR Staff Writer

Incomit is privately held and the value of the deal was not disclosed.

The two companies have been partners since 2003 when Incomit’s application hub, which simplifies the delivery of a variety of services, was integrated with BEA’s Weblogic infrastructure.

About 24% of BEA’s revenue comes from telecommunications companies, and the company claims that all of the largest 50 global carriers run portions of their operational support systems on BEA software.

Oliver Hellebold, BEA’s executive vice president for strategy and development, said the addition of Incomit’s technology will expand the WebLogic platform and help to give customers a competitive edge.
