BE CEO GASSEE SAYS MICROSOFT IS “ILL INFORMED”

By CBR Staff Writer

Be Inc chief executive, Jean-Louis Gassee has said again that his company is not a competitor to Microsoft Corp (CI No 3,592) – much as Microsoft would like to have the Department of Justice believe that it is. In particular, Gassee says Microsoft is wrong to suggest that Be’s operating system and browser are integrated. I cannot believe that a company as well managed as Microsoft would be so ill-informed, Gassee told the CNN financial network. I have to wonder why they’re stating something which is so obviously untrue. You can take our browser from the desktop and put it in the trash and the computer functions very normally. The San Jose Mercury News speculates that the Department of Justice may call the outspoken Gassee as a rebuttal witness in the antitrust trial.
