BCE Inc’s BCE Telecom International Inc has is to buy a controlling interest in East London Telecommunications Ltd, which has six cable television franchises that put it in reach of 630,000 homes: it will buy the 45% stake held by Pacific Telesis Group Inc’s PacTel Cable, and part of Jones UK Ltd’s stake: the Bell Canada affiliate says that#200m investment is needed to achieve full potential of the systems – with telephone service, no doubt.
