Following its agreement to acquire Canadian National’s Terra Nova Telecommunications (CI No 1,000), BCE Inc has also won the other telephone property the state railway company put on the block: it is to pay $Can140m for Northwestel Inc, which serves Yukon Territory, northern British Columbia and the western Northwest Territories, and will also assume $Can56m of debt.
