BCE INDIAN VENTURE LAUNCHES CELLULAR NETWORK

BCE Inc’s Bell Canada International and its partner Tata Sons & Co Pvt Ltd have now launched their cellular telephone network in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Operating under the name Tata Communications, the new company is licensed to serve the near 70 million residents, 850 large-scale enterprises and 100,000 small businesses in India’s fifth-largest state. 51% of the equity is held by the Tata Group, and Bell Canada owns 39% of the cellular company and an allied basic telephone company. American International Group Inc holds the remaining 10% of each company. Tata Communications will be offering long distance and a full range of options and features within three weeks.
