BBC CALL SAZTEC TO PUT RECORD INDEX ON CD-ROM

By CBR Staff Writer

The British Broadcasting Corporation has called in Saztec International Inc, Kansas City, Missouri to put the entire, legendary BBC Gramophone Library of nearly 1.5m records in cylinder, shellac, vinyl and digital formats onto Compact Disk: sounds great but unfortunately it’s only the catalogue index that is being digitised and put on CD-ROM; the idea is to make the data on just what is in the library available to anyone in the UK with a CD player and personal computer.
