BBC strikes £25m digital testing deal with Mindtree

The IT services company will test a range of the broadcasters’ digital products.

IT services provider Mindtree has won a contract worth between £15m and £25m from the BBC to test a range of the broadcaster’s digital products.

Under the two-year contract, Mindtree will supply services to deliver and support the testing of digital products and applications owned by the BBC.

These include applications and websites that run on digital and broadcast platforms, such as desktop computers, mobile devices, the cloud, integrated digital TV, Internet protocol TV, satellite TV and the web.

Mindtree, which was one of seven suppliers who bid for the contract, said the testing services will include functional, non-functional, test management, exploratory, automation and load testing.

In a blog post announcing the contract award, Richard Smith, head of Market Engagement at the BBC, said: "This is a non-exclusive agreement for a minimum of two years, and covers the provision of specialist digital testing services on behalf of a number of BBC teams, not just those working on BBC Online."

Ramesh Menon, SVP and head of Technology & Media at Mindtree, added: "We are excited to be part of the BBC digital services framework. Millions of citizens globally benefit from BBC and we hope to enrich their experience with our superior digital testing capabilities."
