Quite an achievement to find a communications equipment company more than one week old that can be had for as little as $59m these days, but that is the cash sum that Santa Clara-based Bay Networks Inc agreed to pay for LANcity Corp, described as a pioneer and leader in cable modem technology and the data-over-cable television industry. Bay wants to combine its own network infrastructure and network management products with LANcity’s cable modems to offer cable service providers an end-to-end data internetworking system. LANcity will join the Bay Internet/Telecom Business Unit.
