BARNES & NOBLE LAUNCHES WEBSITE, SUES AMAZON

By CBR Staff Writer

When it comes to commercial web sites, books seem to be one of the few areas where money is being made, and Barnes & Noble Inc has thrown its hat into the ring, launching its own website on Tuesday. The launch coincides with the news that Barnes & Noble is suing its online competitor Amazon.com Inc, alleging Amazon falsely claims to be The World’s Largest Bookstore in its advertising. The lawsuit that has been filed says Amazon falsely claims to stock and supply a far greater selection and number of titles than its rival. The suit also comes in the same week that Amazon’s previously announced initial public offering (CI No 3,127) is to take place.
