Barclays Financial Services Ltd intends to use the migration services of Henley-based Rand Information Systems Ltd to move its Barclays Life division’s PALM assurance and pension administration software off an ICL Plc mainframe running under DME/VME onto an IBM Corp mainframe under MVS: this will take 15 months at a fixed cost of UKP700,000; the decision was based on Barclays’s need for increased capacity, and the fact that its processing centre in Poole uses mainly IBM kit; Rand generates about 55% of its revenues from migration services and the rest from its software, aimed at the financial sector, insurance in particular.
