The broad-scale program, which includes extensive use of Eclipsys’ information technology outsourcing services, claims to create an integrated technology platform to support patient safety and care outcomes through automation and enhanced information access.

Karmanos plans to implement Sunrise Clinical Manager and its integrated modules, including Sunrise Acute Care, Sunrise Pharmacy, and Knowledge-Based Medication Administration to provide a closed-loop medication process and to streamline the information workflows and care coordination among physicians, pharmacists and nurses.

Karmanos also is using the Eclipsys IT outsourcing services. As part of the agreement, Eclipsys will provide additional expert staff to manage the IT infrastructure across its facilities, especially as Karmanos undergoes the multiple systems implementation. As part of the IT outsourcing agreement, Karmanos’ IT employees will become employees of Eclipsys.

Andrew Eckert, Eclipsys’ president and CEO, said: This agreement, which is one of the largest in our company’s history, is testament to the expertise Eclipsys can bring to a project of this scope, and it demonstrates the continued market recognition of the power of our solutions and the quality of our modern XA architecture. We look forward to working with the Karmanos team.
