At the same time as gaining quality certification from Novell Inc, Banyan Systems Inc has launched version 1.1 of Enterprise Network Services. The Westborough, Massachusetts company says new version adds support for NetWare 4.0; StreetTalk III global directory service and extended StreetTalk III application programming interfaces; more extensive interoperability between NetWare and Vines; support for Apple Computer Inc Macintosh and OS/2 clients, and new mainframe communications options. The ability to load an Enterprise Network Services NetWare Loadable Module – providing integration with StreetTalk III – on a NetWare 4.0 server will enable users to integrate NetWare 2.X, 3.X and 4.X networks with each other and with Vines networks. Each Enterprise Network Services server can support up to eight NetWare servers, and any number of Enterprise servers can be incorporated into a NetWare environment. Improved NetWare and Vines interoperability gives users simultaneous transparent access to NetWare and Vines environments from a single workstation. Macintosh and OS/2 users will also be able to access network resources through Enterprise Network Services or Vines servers. A series of mainframe connection options are available. Enterprise Network Services for NetWare, Version 1.1, will begin shipping this month. Suggested US list pricing is $4,000 for the Enterprise Network Services for NetWare Server Software, with the Enterprise Network Services NetWare Loadable Module/VAP Software starting at $300 for a five-user pack, Banyan says.
