BANK OF TOKYO TAKES 5% OF ECS JAPAN

By CBR Staff Writer

Paris-based leasing company Europe Computer Systemes SA has won a powerful ally for its ECS Japan subsidiary in the shape of Bank of Tokyo, which has acquired a 5% stake in the company. ECS Japan, capitalised at $1.5m, was created in 1986 to take account of the fact that Japan is now the second largest market for operational leases on IBM equipment after the US. ECS also has subsidiaries in the UK, West Germany, Italy and Belgium, and its foreign subsidiaries contribute about one fifth of the group’s annual turnover, running at some $850m.
