BANDAI PIPPIN IS DELAYED TO MARCH

By CBR Staff Writer

Japanese toy king Bandai Co Ltd has confirmed what had been widely rumoured – that its Mac OS-derived Pippin multimedia CD-ROM games and educational machine – based on a stripped down Macintosh specification, will not ship in Japan until March, arriving in the US after mid-year. In the meantime, Bandai would conduct a market survey next month, giving 500 Pippins to consumers to find out what kind of software they like and how they use the device’s communications facilities. Bandai plans to set up a company to run the Pippin project in Japan.
