Japanese toymaker Bandai Co Ltd intends to bring its Pippin Macintosh-derived games machine to the US market, MacWeek reports. The Tokyo company is in process of forming two US companies to further its ambitions: Bandai Digital Entertainment Inc and Bandai Entertainment Inc will both be based in La Mirada, California, and Digital Entertainment will develop multimedia and games titles, and may later market the Pippin Power Player in the US, and Bandai Entertainment will produce movie and television programs. In Japan, Bandai is expected to begin marketing the Pippin CD-ROM players for less than $500 before the end of the year. They can be used for Internet access and word processing as well as for playing games. Mitsubishi Electric Corp is making them OEM and is contracted to supply Bandai with 50,000 of the things by March of next year.
