Band Three Radio Ltd is the first of the UK Band III private mobile radio licencees for UK nationwide service to launch a service using the old 405 black and white TV spectrum: the company, controlled by a holding company comprising Philips, Racal, Securicor and Digital Mobile Radio, is offering a flat rate of UKP20 a month for London users and UKP15 a month in the provinces with no call charges; the other nationwide licensee, GEC, is not expected to launch till 1988.
