BAE Systems wins UK FCO’s service management integration contract

For improving and maintaining continuity of critical systems.

BAE Systems Detica has secured a £40m contract to offer Service Management Integration (SMI) services across the UK’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) global estates.

Under the five year contract, BAE Systems Detica will provide ICT services through managing its ICT suppliers including Vodafone and desktop supplier Computacenter in order to offer better savings and user experience.

The contract also includes over 260 FCO posts around the world for improving and maintaining continuity of critical systems to help the government organisation reduce ICT costs by about 40%.

BAE Systems Detica managing director Martin Sutherland said that combining Detica’s proven delivery management and security expertise with the large scale integrated service management processes of the company to deliver a solution for the FCO that allows it to achieve dynamic resilience in its IT infrastructure across the world.

"We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the FCO to manage a truly global IT service," Sutherland added.

The service will commence in Spring 2014.
