BACHMAN CUTS 33 JOBS, OR 12%

By CBR Staff Writer

Burlington, Massachusetts-based software engineering products specialist Bachman Information Systems Inc has cut its worldwide workforce by 33 employees, or about 12% as part of an effort to streamline the business to meet existing and future customer requirements and to ensure expenses are in line with revenue. The company says that while it expects fourth quarter turnover to be slightly higher than that for the third quarter, in will be below that for the last quarter of fiscal 1992, which forces the cut in the workforce. The company says it is channelling its resources towards developing additional client-server and data management products and services. The cut is part of a restructuring that will result in a charge to earnings in the fourth quarter to June 30 implying a significant loss.
