Netherlands-based Baan Co NV is forming a strategic alliance with Microsoft Corp and Compaq Computer Corp and as a first step, yesterday unveiled the Microsoft BackOffice version of its products, which is expected to be out later this year. The company claims to be the first enterprise applications vendor to provide an Enterprise Resource Planning system across the entire supply chain, and says Baan IV BackOffice brings the power of its Dynamic Enterprise Modeling capability to the broadest range of enterprise computing offerings. It said that, for the first time, those that choose to run an enterprise on Windows NT with Compaq servers will have a fully scalable system optimized for the environment and suitable for a combined Unix and Windows NT environment.
