Two-thirds of Baan NV’s product development will be done in India by 2002. In its five year business plan, the Dutch firm has defined a major role for its Indian operations, including adding product design and definition capabilities and increasing the number of software developers to 3,300 from the present 1,400. The firm’s Indian operations contributed nearly 40% of the software code for Baan 5, its latest ERP product scheduled for release later this year. The firm has also recently set up a Baan Institute in India.
