BAAN INSISTS ITS NOT REQUIRED TO HAND OVER SOFTWARE TO CA

By CBR Staff Writer

Baan International BV insists that it is not required to turn over future releases of its software to Computer Associates International Inc, which contends that Ask’s agreement with Baan means that it is entitled to full and complete source codes for future releases of Baan products as they relate to software covered by the licensing agreement, but Baan disputes that, maintaining that it terminated the agreement on June 23, in accordance – as we suggested (CI No 2,467) with a stipulation that provided that it could do so upon the acquisition of Ask by a Baan competitor.
