At the annual BaanEurope conference, the Dutch ERP vendor expended a lot of energy talking about the virtues of real-time enterprise systems. However, the ground level reality of the event was somewhat different. For most of the two days that ComputerWire attended the event, connection to the internet was patchy in the press room and sometimes it was hard to even make a telephone call. However, perhaps most telling was that as Computerwire left the event late Tuesday afternoon, exhibits were still being constructed for Baan Expo, which started Monday.
