AXLAN CAN RUN LAN MANAGER 2.1 ON SOLARIS 2.2…

By CBR Staff Writer

The fledgling French distributed computing specialist Axlan SA says it has adapted LAN Manager 2.1 to run on Sparcsystems running Solaris 2.2, in a product it calls Ax LAN Manager: the product offers Sparc Solaris users links to the personal computer world and the resource sharing, and system and network administration available from the Sun server; it also enables interoperability between other LAN Manager servers running under Unix, OS/2 and, eventually, Windows NT, the company said; Ax LAN Manager sells for approximately $1,930 for five users; Axlan was created in November 1992 by its chief executive, Eric Bories, with other former staffers from Sun France SA.
