The big US distributor Avnet Inc, Great Neck, New York is to combine the distribution businesses of its Avnet Technologies subsidiary with those of its Hamilton/Avnet Computer division to create a $350m-a-year Avnet Computer company: the move reflects the fact that distinctions between personal computers and larger systems no longer apply.
