Avistar launches new editions of visual communications software

To offer desktop videoconferencing for Microsoft OCS and Citrix platforms

By CBR Staff Writer

Avistar Communications has launched new additions to Avistar C3 software offerings. The Avistar C3 Unified – Microsoft OCS Edition and Avistar C3 Integrator – Citrix Edition, engineered to deliver interoperable and desktop videoconferencing to the Microsoft OCS and Citrix platforms.

The company said that the Avistar C3 Unified delivers desktop videoconferencing while addressing critical video features not found within the Microsoft OCS offering. It provides direct interoperability between the desktop video experience and both SIP and H.323 enabled room offerings.

In addition, the C3 Unified also delivers rich desktop videoconferencing features such as continuous presence multiparty videoconferencing, HD video resolution and advanced call controls, including leveraging Microsoft OCS presence and desktop integration features. It also offers full bandwidth management and call admission control providing administrators control of their videoconferencing environment.

According to Avistar, the C3 Integrator is designed specifically to run on the Citrix ICA protocol. This allows its clients to benefit from the operational savings on the Citrix platform. It can be experienced through both the Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp offerings in addition to the Wyse family of thin terminals. I

Chris Lauwers, chief technology officer of Avistar, said: “The Avistar C3 Unified of Microsoft OCS Edition picks up where Microsoft OCS leaves off. Our solution extends Microsoft OCS and delivers a desktop visual communications experience that is vibrant, feature-rich and interoperable. This helps to lower overall operating costs and increase productivity, while extending OCS implementations.

“The Avistar C3 Unified of Citrix Edition is designed to operate and leverage the Citrix ICA protocol. Delivering scalable and manageable desktop visual communications within VDI environments has long been an industry challenge. When combined, they deliver a desktop visual communications experience with a level of quality unmatched in our industry.”
