According to the company, the new version has a technology that delivers desktop videoconferencing without degrading network performance. It can support high volumes of video calling without requiring costly network upgrades. Avistar claims that its single server administers up to 100 locations, from the company headquarters through to single remote workers.
Video calling is the element of unified communications that yields the greatest benefits, yet is consistently disabled by IT managers because without our network management layer, video severely compromises network performance, said Simon Moss, president at Avistar.
In October 2007, the company launched hosted video services, which allowed video communications and data-sharing capabilities without the need of installing and maintaining onsite video infrastructure or expend valuable IT resources.
