Avid Technology Inc announced that it has entered a joint development and marketing agreement with Pluto Technologies International Inc to develop and deliver an integrated, Digital Video-native editing and playback systems for broadcast news. Avid will develop a DV-native version of its NewsCutter disk- based news editing system for Windows NT, while Pluto will develop a DV-based multichannel playback server featuring compatibility with Avid’s DV- native NewsCutter that it will supply to Avid under an OEM agreement. Avid also introduced the first release of AvidNews, a newsroom computer system that streamlines news production with tools that enable text, video and audio management on the journalist’s desktop; and introduced version 2.0 of its Digital News Gathering server-based news production system. This product has support for up to 12 client workstations, support for Fiber Channel RAID arrays and channel RAID arrays and also features enhancements to the Media Recorder, NewsCutter and AirPlay client workstations.
