Tewkesbury, Massachusetts-based Avid Technology Inc is shipping version 2.0 of Media Suite Pro, a desktop video editing system for the corporate, educational, industrial and health care markets. It offers professional-quality video directly from the Macintosh and enables users to incorporate graphics, animation, audio and titles to create finished video programmes. Media Suite Pro users are guaranteed instant play back of edits in full-screen and motion and at 30 frames per second. Finished programmes can be printed directly from the computer to videotape, in real time. Its key features include a 60-Field Option providing users with improved image quality for an additional $4,000; an EDL Edit Decision List Output Option, expanding the system’s functionality for users wanting to bring their programmes to an outline suite for finishing, for $1,000 as well as motion control and user-definable picture-in-picture effects. Current Media Suite Pro customers on Avid’s maintenance plan will not be charged for the 2.0 software upgrade. Media Suite Pro runs on a Macintosh Quadra 900, 950 or IIfx with 16Mb of RAM and requires an Avid-approved hard disk drive and a colour multi-sync monitor.
