A new Windows 8.1 app has been released by Aveva, a provider of design and management solutions, that allows project decision makers to examine and process designs from a tablet device wherever they are.

The Aveva E3D Insight comes with direct access to a live Aveva E3D model 24 hours a day, streamlining design reviews and approval processes.

As a result, users can access the model and related data clearly and quickly, check for potential problems like object clashes or accessibility, and liaise directly with the project’s design team.

Aveva, which developed the tool with Microsoft, said users can also record feedback in the Aveva E3D database itself.

Dave Wheeldon, CTO and head of engineering design and systems at Aveva, said: "Aveva E3D Insight enables our customers to improve their business practices, to collaborate more effectively across their projects and to eliminate the delays and decision bottlenecks caused by critical stakeholders being out of the office.

"In short, it gives them the tools they need to improve their decision-making. Whether reviewing project progress or discussing specific design issues, the new Windows 8.1 app from AVEVA provides global real-time direct access to AVEVA E3D information."

Aveva, which has delivered software solutions for operators, engineering contractors and shipbuilders worldwide for 45 years, signed a strategic alliance agreement with Logica in April 2012.
