Aventail Corp will today announce the feature upgrades for version 7.0 of its ASAP clientless VPN appliance, which it intends to ship next month. The company has added availability and management upgrades from its service offering to the platform.

On the availability side, the appliance now supports two-node active-active clustering, with integrated load balancing and user authentication failover.

Also on offer in the new release will be prewritten configuration templates for supporting key applications clientlessly. At first, Outlook and Notes templates will be offered, but the company expects to release more as time goes by.

The final major upgrade is in authentication. The management system will allow authentication realms to be created. These are supersets of access groups that make it simpler to manage authentication when multiple types of access control systems are in place in the same company.
