Intel Corp, Microsoft Corp and USWeb Corp have invested in Burlington, Massachusetts based AVC Inc, a developer and manager of interactive online communities. AVC plans to use the unspecified amount of cash to improve its visual networks and desktop videoconferencing products and services. AVC will combine Intel’s Business Video Conferencing technology, Microsoft’s internet software and USWeb’s internet consulting and development services into a complete videoconferencing system. Specifically the money will be used to improve AVC’s Welcom network, a private visual network that uses the new open client version of AVC’s desktop videoconferencing value-added services. AVC’s Private Visual Networks offers desktop videoconferencing, a video library of stored content and distance learning. Users include international corporations, organizations and government, including a recent agreement with the government of Singapore
