The institution’s new website, Collegerama.nl, has been developed for both students and lecturers at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), to provide online video recordings of classes.

With Collegerama, students can follow, search and review various classes, lectures and research presentations online. Additionally, lecturers and students can now download, process and upload educational material themselves.

The system satisfies the new learning requirements encouraged by the Dutch government, whereby teaching material is provided digitally wherever possible, thus optimizing remote knowledge sharing and knowledge exchange.

TU Delft is using Virage’s rich media offering to automatically link metadata to all uploaded files on Collegerama.nl. The Virage technology analyses, encodes and indexes audio and video material from various sources and automatically allocates metadata to those files, removing the need for manual tagging.

Virage also understands the context of files, so that, if a student enters the search term ‘solar energy,’ for example, the software will also find related documents such as information on green power.
