Autofax Corp, Scotts Valley, California has begun shipping the Autofax Imager disk-to-VCR tape backup system which transfers data at up to 1Mb per minute and features a Z80-based add-in card and menu-dri-ven control software, video generator chip to handle timing, and RAM shared between the Z80 and the IBM Personal’s processor: it could transfer data at two to four times its present rate but has to compromise to be compatible with as many VCRs as possible; Autofax is $295.
