Autodesk Inc’s Multimedia Division, based in Sausalito, California, is shipping Autodesk Animator Pro, a two-dimensional animation software package: it has higher resolution and more advanced features than the entry-level Autodesk Animator software, and runs on 80386- and 80486-based personal computers; Animator Pro provides screen-resolution independence, animated cells and advanced tweening, as well as text handling and paint features; users can install drivers for display with a Super VGA resolution of 640 by 480 pixels, or for resolutions of 1,024 by 768 pixels; Autodesk Animator has a fixed resolution of 320 by 200 pixels, and other features include new paint and editing tools, enhanced font support, enhanced tweening, a C-based interpreter and Animator Pro Player that enables animations to be played back under MS-DOS, independent of Autodesk Animator Pro; Animation Player for Windows, available separately, plays back animations from Autodesk’s animation products under Windows; Animator Pro is available for $800 and Autodesk is offering Animator Pro to registered users of Autodesk Animator for $200 between July 31 and October 31 this year.
