AUTODESK BUYS VITAL LISP TOOL

By CBR Staff Writer

Desktop Computer-Aided Design player Autodesk Inc has bought the Vital LISP design programming technology from Exton, Pennsylvania-based Basis Software Inc, which itself was built with Autodesk’s ObjectArx object-oriented core programming technology. The acquisition is said to enhance Autodesk’s AutoLISP design software programming language, embedded in AutoCAD design software since 1985 and with 1million users. AutoCAD will use it to upgrade AutoLISP to Visual LISP, a new version due out with AutoCAD 14 early next year.
