Design software house Autodesk Inc has warned of lower-than- expected first-quarter results. The San Rafael, California-based company said it expects revenue for the quarter ended April 30 to be in the range of $190m to $195m, up slightly from $187.2m in the year-ago quarter. Excluding one-time charges and amortization of goodwill, earnings per share should come in at $0.10 to $0.15, when analysts surveyed by First Call were expecting $0.40. Autodesk says the shortfall is due to transition issues across it product lines, with customers either making initial purchases of the recently shipped AutoCAD 2000 or waiting for new vertical market product offerings that are due to ship in the near future. Full results for the quarter are due on May 27.
