This acquisition enables Austrian Post to offer its large customers a new type of service, namely the electronic delivery of personal incoming mail. The digitalized information is then made available to the recipient in digital form, either on some form of storage media, via email or as a web archive file.

Austrian Post claims the acquisition will enable both firms to exploit synergies: the logistic know-how of Austrian Post combined with the digitalization expertise of Scanpoint Europe will make it possible to simplify business processes.

Scanpoint Europe, which coordinates sales operations in Germany and Austria as well as production facilities in Germany and Slovakia, generated revenue of E3.5 million in 2006.
