Austria Mikro Systems International AG, successor company to the erstwhile American Microsystems Inc and a former charge of Gould Inc, says it is confident that it will see off a patent infringement lawsuit filed last week against its US subsidiaries by Lucent Technologies Inc. The suit alleges violation of five patents for the design and manufacture of integrated circuits relating to the areas of wafer etching, chip layout, electrostatic discharge protection and operational amplifier design. Austria Mikro says it has known about the allegations by Lucent and AT&T Corp since 1990 and has commissioned outside reports that found no violations.
