The Australian subsidiary of UK-based Year 2000 specialist, Greenwich Mean Time Ltd has secured a Y2K-compliance deal with the Chinese government. China will use GMT’s Check 2000 software to audit its systems, and a three-week training program will begin next week for 600 Chinese government officials, coordinated by the company. The Chinese government standards body, the State Economic Trade Commission (SETC), has announced Check 2000 to be its preferred Y2K software. A further licensing deal with a major Chinese bank is expected to be signed by GMT next week.
