The Australian government has formed the Telecommunications Export Task Force, charged with boosting the country’s telecommunications exports; it is under the control of the Ministry of Trade & Overseas Development and aims to pool the resources of rivals in the sector; its particular focus will be on penetrating lucrative Asian markets, and several major players, including the Australian divisions of Alcatel NV and L M Ericsson Telefon AB have already joined up.
